Building the IllFonic Studio Website: A Site as Bold as the Games Behind It

IllFonic is a studio known for bold, action-packed multiplayer experiences — from Predator: Hunting Grounds to Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed. When I was brought on to develop their new studio website, the goal was clear: create something modern, fast, and flexible that reflected their identity while handling the practical needs of a growing team and game catalogue.

I had already worked with IllFonic on individual game sites, so stepping up to build the studio’s main platform was a natural next step — and a chance to tie everything together under one cohesive digital home.

The Mission

The IllFonic team needed a site that would:

  • Showcase the games they’ve developed and published

  • Present the company’s story, culture, and leadership

  • Offer a clean and effective Careers section to support recruitment

  • Share news, press coverage, and updates in an organized way

  • Stay flexible for future updates and scalable for new releases

It had to look sharp, move fast, and represent the energy of the studio and its games.

Design & Direction

As always, the design came from Mike Heald at Fully Illustrated. Mike delivered a sleek, modern design that leaned into bold visuals, clean typography, and high-impact imagery — the kind of look that feels at home next to IllFonic’s games.

From a dev perspective, the design translated well into reusable, component-based architecture — which made content updates and future growth easy to support without compromising the visual fidelity.

The Tech Stack

I went with my go-to stack for performance, flexibility, and long-term manageability:

  • Nuxt 3 for a modern frontend framework

  • Storyblok as the CMS — flexible and intuitive, ideal for teams who want control without code

  • Netlify for deployment and hosting

This combo gave IllFonic a smooth, future-ready platform that can grow alongside their team and portfolio.

Key Features

  • A dynamic Games section highlighting each title with key visuals, descriptions, and platform links

  • A streamlined Careers page with job postings, studio culture info, and CMS-editable content

  • A News section to feature announcements, press coverage, and internal updates

  • Team profiles and company history to show the people behind the games

  • Mobile-first performance and speed optimization for a wide-reaching audience

Every piece was built with longevity in mind — the site doesn’t just look good now, it’s set up to evolve with IllFonic’s roadmap.

Why It Matters

IllFonic isn’t just another studio — they’re a team with a unique voice, a clear creative vision, and a track record of building fun, high-profile multiplayer experiences. Their website needed to reflect that, while also giving their internal team the tools they need to keep content fresh and up to date.

Being part of that process — helping shape how the world sees the studio behind these games — was something I was proud to be involved with.

Final Thoughts

Building the IllFonic studio site was a chance to bring together everything I’ve learned from game launches, studio branding, and CMS flexibility into one clean, cohesive build. It’s a site that works hard behind the scenes, while staying true to the spirit of the studio.
